FISHING IN BOAVISTA
Boa Vista is not only a paradise for watersports — it is also a fantastic destination for fishing. The island is surrounded by rich Atlantic waters, with a great variety of fish and excellent conditions for different types of fishing.
The best time for fishing in Boa Vista is during the summer months, when the sea conditions are generally more favorable and there is a good chance of encountering larger pelagic fish. The summer is particularly interesting for big game fishing and spearfishing.
The winter months, especially when the trade winds are strong, can bring more challenging sea conditions. Fishing is still possible, but some types of fishing can be more difficult and the choice of spots depends strongly on the weather and sea conditions.
SPEARFISHING
Boa Vista offers excellent opportunities for spearfishing, from shallow coastal waters to offshore blue water spearfishing.
Shallow Water Spearfishing
In the shallow waters around the island, we explore reefs and rocky areas where we look for bottom-dwelling fish. This type of spearfishing is perfect for exploring the coastline and discovering the variety of fish living around the reefs.
Blue Water Spearfishing
For a more challenging and adventurous experience, we also organize blue water spearfishing trips. We head offshore into deeper waters, away from the reefs, in search of pelagic fish.
Depending on the season and conditions, species can include Wahoo, Amberjack, Mahi-Mahi and other pelagic predators.
We choose the location and type of fishing according to the sea conditions, visibility and weather, always looking for the best and safest experience possible.
Our spearfishing trips are aimed at experienced spearfishers who are confident in the water and have the necessary skills and experience to practice the activity safely.
BIG GAME
For those looking for a real offshore adventure, we organize Big Game Fishing trips.
We use different techniques depending on the season and conditions, including:
Trolling – targeting larger pelagic species offshore, with the possibility of encounters with powerful game fish.
Vertical Jigging – fishing deeper waters using jigs to target active predators around underwater structures and drop-offs.
The summer months are generally the best period for big game fishing, when the chances of finding larger pelagic fish are higher.
BOTTOM FISHING
Bottom fishing is the perfect introduction to fishing in Boa Vista, especially for beginners and families. It is a relaxed and enjoyable way to spend a day on the ocean, without the intensity of big game fishing.
We fish around reefs, rocky areas and deeper underwater structures, targeting a variety of local species such as groupers, snappers, jacks and other reef fish.
This type of fishing is easy to enjoy for both adults and children, making it an ideal choice for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking for a more laid-back fishing experience.
And to make the experience even more special, we can organize a beach BBQ after the fishing trip, where you can enjoy and taste the fish you caught yourself, freshly prepared on the beach.
